About Us PRAS is a volunteer-based, non-profit society serving the districts of Ucluelet and Tofino, and First Nations communities along the Central West Coast of Vancouver Island. The Pacific Rim Arts Society was incorporated in 1970 with a strong base of members and volunteers. PRAS has since introduced hundreds of community members and thousands of visitors to the work of local and visiting artists, including visual artists, carvers and sculptors, actors, writers and poets, filmmakers, dancers, and musicians. We envision a lively, diverse, and self-sustaining arts and culture sector that is an integral part of healthy and viable communities in the Pacific Rim. Our Mission is to increase awareness of, appreciation of and participation in the arts in West Coast communities from Ucluelet to Tofino and Clayoquot Sound by: Staging events and programs Supporting local artists Partnering with other artists and Arts Groups from both in and out of the Pacific Rim Bringing kids and arts together Promoting the importance of arts and culture in healthy, viable communities ?PRAS believes that the arts are a foundation of our communities. We value the wealth of our local and visiting artists, and we believe that by sharing their work with our communities in an open, inclusive, and accessible way that we encourage appreciation for all cultures and enrich our quality of life. We are committed to conducting our affairs with a high degree of professionalism, accountability, and fiscal and environmental responsibility while encouraging creativity, innovation, and fun.
