About
mulaa is an Indigenous and community-led initiative that harnesses the healing qualities of nature and the ocean to empower nuu-chah-nulth youth. Established in 2019, the Rising Tide Surf Team brings together Indigenous youth and mentors to foster resilience, self-determination, and cultural revival through a surf-based connection to their ancestral lands. Our goal is to inspire and encourage all Indigenous youth to build the confidence to embrace new goals and the courage to engage in new experiences. We offer primarily surf sessions to Indigenous youth, and are growing in capacity to offer a variety of new programs such as skateboarding, skiing/snowboarding, food sovereignty education, and swimming lessons.
